Untitled is a memorial of sorts - tender, reverential - but itself the subject of time and weathering. Small clay pots, shaped as if by a child's hand, hold delicate flowers, long since dried and losing their colour but still standing proud, the smell of spring lingering. Around them, images of unborn children preserved as specimens in museums, ripped ruthlessly from women in the Victorian era in the name of scientific progress. The bonds between a mother and child so complete and consuming here broken before their time. I wanted to offer them sanctuary, a better resting place. I conceptualised this installation to reflect the futility of the endeavour.
