The Blues is a series of self-portraits I originally made 16 years ago, in the year immediately after the birth of my third child.
I had felt manhandled by my experience of the medicalised birth process and took these self-portraits in that intense moment as an act of defiance, and as a way of rediscovering myself in this new context and with this new history, of finding beauty and fragility in the post-pregnancy body.
